Known as Fes el Bali, this UNESCO World Heritage Site, established in the 9th century, houses the world’s oldest university. Fes flourished economically and culturally during the 13th and 14th centuries under the Merinid dynasty when it replaced Marrakech as the kingdom’s capital. Although Rabat became the political capital in 1912, Fes has remained Morocco’s hub for artisanship. The medina’s workshops, specializing in blacksmithing, leatherworking, ceramics, silk, tapestries, and sculpting, are as vibrant today as they were a century ago, significantly contributing to the local economy. Protected by its original ramparts, the city features around 9,000 narrow passageways and lively streets.

On day 6 of our 7-day Morocco tour from Marrakech to Chefchaouen, we will head straight to Chefchaouen. Along the way, we’ll stop to visit the historical sites of Meknes and Volubilis. Upon reaching Chefchaouen, we will explore the old medina, known for its charming square with a Spanish-style influence. You’ll find numerous artisan shops, terrace restaurants, and cozy cafes where you can unwind, enjoy a meal, and soak in the atmosphere. You’ll have free time to explore Chefchaouen at your leisure, followed by an overnight stay in a Riad nestled in the Rif mountains.
Day 7 : Chefchaouen – Rabat – Casablanca
In the morning, after breakfast, we will begin our journey from Chefchaouen, heading either to Casablanca or Marrakech, depending on your preference and flight departure location.
